Winter Solstice Practice

Winter Solstice. The shortest day of the year. And the start of a new cycle, receiving more light every day.

I love these cocoon-like times. Winter used to be challenging for me, with the cold, dark and rainy days. But ever since I realised the qualities of the seasons (and took care I got my supply of vitamin D ;), I started loving the potential of winter time.

It offers this natural pull to focus inwards, reflect, appreciate. Brewing on new ideas for the next cycle. It has this wise and deep stillness that gives clarity and inspiration for the new year to come.

When we move with the energy of the seasons, it can carry us - like we are swimming with the current of this big river called life. If you notice lately, that you feel tired, overwhelmed, or restless - this can be a great moment to welcome the winter quality into your daily life. This can nourish you deeply before the next season comes.

To honour - and celebrate! - this winter time, I want to share this Winter Solstice Practice.

Block some time for yourself (or invite family/friends to do this together). Prepare a cosy space and a heartwarming drink, put your phone off and away, and sit down to do this writing practice. Reflect on & appreciate this past year, and join the small acts of kindness to bring this cycle to a meaningful close. Scroll down

Feel free to download the pdf here and print it, share it with whomever might benefit from it.

Wishing you a meaningful close of this year’s cycle!
